Meet Alex, our newest addition to the Principle team onsite at London Bridge City, who is supporting the LBC team with their Summer by the River programme of events, three days a week until the end of September.

Principle was introduced to Alex through WorkFit; the Down’s Syndrome Association’s employment programme, who were approached by Terry Murphy – Principle’s Managing Director of Operations – about the two organisations working together.

As well as helping the LBC team with their Summer by the River events, a typical day at LBC for Alex entails him and his buddy from the security team walking around the estate to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, something that both LBC and Principle are seriously committed to. This could include giving directions, checking if someone needs help or impressing visitors with interesting facts about the estate’s decor, such as the rippled blue/ grey concrete being designed to replicate The River Thames.

Prior to joining Principle, Alex spent three years at Chickenshed, an inclusive theatre company, from which he has just graduated. One of the highlights of his time there was performing as a dancer at the Manchester AO Arena for the Big Jubilee Street Party in May where he got to meet many famous faces including Mark Owen.

Alex told us that he is really enjoying his time at LBC and that this opportunity is just what he needed; it has boosted his confidence and he is so happy to be a part of the team. Even with Russell – Account Director – and Marcin – Estate Operations Manager both of Principle out of earshot, Alex says there is nothing about the role that he doesn’t enjoy. He is full of praise and says it is how welcoming everyone has been and instantly feeling like one of the team that has been the greatest thing of his placement so far.

In his spare time Alex creates his own music and goes to the gym. He has a keen interest in history, and has loved finding out about the rich existence of London Bridge City, and helped by the fact that his parents are of the heritage he speaks Romanian.

The Principle team is equally delighted to have Alex with them, and Russell Southern – Account Director for Principle at LBC told us:

“Alex started his role at LBC in June and immediately became an integral part of the team. Watching Alex interact with the public and the smiles he brings to everyone he meets is one of the many highlights to come out of his placement with Principle Cleaning.

Alex is such a joy to work with, and we’re delighted to have him in the team and see his confidence grow in a role he really enjoys!”

We’re so pleased to hear Alex is enjoying his time with Principle and look forward to hearing more of what he gets up to over the coming months!
