Principle Cleaning Services has appointed Shannon Berry as Sustainability Manager

Shannon joins us having previously worked in the travel sector where she supported an ESG strategy. A large focus of this was educating and empowering local communities and young travellers to adopt more sustainable practices, as well as involvement in the Travellers Against Plastic and ReThink Orphanages initiatives.

Prior to this, Shannon studied Animal Biology and Conservation at Oxford Brookes University before travelling to Borneo where she volunteered at an orangutan rehabilitation centre. It was there she learnt more about the impacts of climate change and human-wildlife conflict and where her passion for working on the operational side of conservation and sustainability developed.

She is currently studying to become an Associate Member with the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA).

Shannon said “I’m really excited to be a part of the Principle team! I was inspired by how far Principle had come on their sustainability journey and wanted to continue to drive them towards their goal of being the most sustainable cleaning company. I’m particularly looking forward to working alongside clients, educating and supporting one another on our ambitions to be net zero.”

Some of the company’s current initiatives include eliminating single-use plastics, reducing overall plastic use through plastic-free packaging, chemical-free cleaning processes, water-saving and water-recycling systems and consumables from closed-loop recycling.
