We’re proud to announce that Zaynab Uddin, Sustainability Coordinator, and Shannon Berry, Head of Sustainability, have been named finalists in the Edie Awards 2026.
The Edie Awards recognises organisations and individuals leading the way in environmental, social and governance (ESG) excellence, innovation and measurable impact. Being shortlisted reflects Principle’s ongoing commitment to embedding sustainability across everything we do.
Rising Star: Zaynab Uddin, Sustainability Coordinator

Zaynab has been shortlisted in the Rising Star category, recognising her rapid impact and leadership in driving meaningful, data-led and community-focused sustainability initiatives.
Since joining Principle Cleaning Services in 2023, Zaynab has played a pivotal role in embedding ESG across operations. One of her most significant achievements has been the development of Principle’s Consumables Carbon Calculator, an innovative tool that has directly addressed over 86% of the business’s Scope 3 emissions.
Through her collaborative approach and analytical mindset, Zaynab continues to support evidence-based decision-making, helping clients and colleagues better understand and reduce environmental impact. She is also an active member of Principle’s Environmental Committee, championing continuous improvement and engagement across the organisation.
Sustainability Leader of the Year: Shannon Berry, Head of Sustainability
Shannon has been named a finalist for Sustainability Leader of the Year, in recognition of her strategic leadership and ability to turn complex ESG challenges into practical, measurable outcomes.
Joining Principle in 2021 as a team of one, Shannon has since transformed the company’s sustainability agenda. She has grown a dedicated sustainability team, embedded ESG principles across operations, and delivered tangible results aligned with client, stakeholder and regulatory expectations.
Known for her pragmatic and creative leadership style, Shannon excels at translating sustainability strategy into action – engaging teams at every level of the business and ensuring ESG is not just a policy, but part of everyday operations.
