Early on Friday 2nd September our 25 Helvellyn Hike heroes (a mix of Principle and Broadgate team members) met at Broadgate Towers before hitting the road up to the Lake District and embarking on their mission to conquer Helvellyn; England’s third highest mountain.

Organised by Principle’s Window Cleaning Administrator, Dominika Regesova, reaching the peaks of the UK collaboratively has become a team building tradition for Principle and Broadgate over the years.

Wasting no time at all Saturday morning, the hikers were up and out at 8am. Despite an assortment of weather, the team completed the challenge, and many hurried down from the top as quickly as they could before the wind could give them a helping hand! The hike consisted of three different routes, each varying in difficulty; 8.5 km, 10.3km (the most difficult one as it included some rock climbing and completed by two of the group) and 11.7km.

We may have received a tip off that the Directors tried to take a sneaky shortcut: “We almost lost the Directors when they took a different turn. They mistook our shouts to help them and just happily waved back at us! Fortunately they soon realised and got back on track.” Dominika laughs as she recalls this.

With everyone in one piece they regrouped that evening for a well deserved celebratory dinner and drinks in the village, before an early rise on Sunday morning ready to take on the heavy M6 traffic (the perfect opportunity for the group to sleep off an action packed weekend).

Well done to you all and thanks for sharing your photos with us!
