Earlier this week, the grounds of Power League, Shoreditch were alive with determination and camaraderie as 11 teams from Principle, CBRE, Karcher, Mayflower, ICE and Recorra came together for our annual 5-a-side football tournament, with all funds going to Richard House Children’s Hospice.

  • Date: 18th September
  • Participating Teams: 22 Galacticos, Wellcome Warriors, Karcher Hire, Mayflower Maestros, ICE, Lloyd`s Lions, REMaroos, Vertical FC, Scalpel FC, King’s Cross, Los Criollos, 20 Fenchurch Street, Recorra
  • Funds raised: £1,750

The competition was fierce and four teams stood out by making it to the semi-finals; Vertical FC, ICE, Mayflower Maestros and Recorra. However, it was Vertical FC who emerged victorious, clinching the winners title once again. Although a few new faces and a different team name this year, the team’s determination and skill remained unmatched.

Now the question on everyone’s mind is ‘will it be third time lucky next year?’

The tournament had its share of light-hearted moments, and Mohammed – Principle’s Sales Ledger Administrator, had a short-lived role as referee before being relegated due to his unconventional approach. As it turns out, Mohammed “just stood having a chat”. Better luck next time, Mo!

Until then, congratulations to Vertical FC and a big round of applause to all who made this year’s tournament a memorable success; particularly our players for their impressive performances and dedication to the tournament and its charitable cause! Thank you also to everyone who came along to support the event! Together, we raised over £1,700 for Richard House which is just fantastic!
