Celebrating Bring Your Culture to Work Day with dancing and delicacies

What a wonderful celebration of diversity it was at The Francis Crick Institute, last Thursday, for the research lab’s annual Bring your Culture to Work Day, where staff around the building can host stands to promote their cultures… Meaning the building is awash with amazing smells, colours and music from the multiple countries that are represented under its roof!

It was an honour for Principle to once again be invited to participate, and on our stand was an array of cuisines from the 16 countries that our team members onsite originate from, including Bangladesh, Colombia, Ecuador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Portugal, Senegal and Venezuela, to name a few.

As well as trying so many delicious delicacies, our visitors had the chance to show us their fancy footwork in the salsa classes held by Principle’s Walber Leon, who is a professional dancer in his spare time.

Every year the event is a huge success and a buzz of pride and warmth flows through the building as staff showcase the lifestyle and traditions from their home countries and everyone is keen to hear these and know more!

Hugo Brito – Head of Life Sciences, Principle Cleaning Services commented:

“The housekeeping team at The Francis Crick Institute takes immense pride in showcasing their culinary skills at the annual “Bring Your Culture to Work day” event. This tradition has become a highlight of the year, allowing the team to share a piece of their diverse cultural heritage through food. They truly go all out, preparing a variety of tasteful and delicious dishes that have become incredibly popular among Crick staff.

As it was our third time participating, we thought to make it more special by inviting Walber and Jessica to delight us with their salsa moves and offer some quick intro salsa classes for staff members. I would like to congratulate and thank my team for making this such a great event. The preparation and work involved is significant, but the rewards and feedback on the day make it totally worth it. The excitement for next year is already building up, reflecting the success and enthusiasm that this event brings to the institute.”
