Young Leader of the Year – Shannon Stewart-Berry
Since joining Principle in 2021, Shannon has progressed from Sustainability Manager to Head of Sustainability, growing the team and embedding sustainability across our business and client sites. She has turned strategy into action, strengthening our ESG approach, developing future talent and working with colleagues, clients and supply chain partners to deliver meaningful change.
Her impact includes a 48% reduction in emissions against our baseline, £690,000 in social value and an 88% reduction in CO₂e emissions at one client location. She also champions sustainability across the wider FM sector through industry events and panel discussions.
Shannon’s approach is simple: make sustainability practical, bring people with you and create lasting change.
Partners in ESG – Principle Cleaning Services & Savills at 20 Fenchurch Street
Our award-winning partnership with Savills at 20 Fenchurch Street demonstrates how innovation, collaboration and operational excellence can drive meaningful environmental and social impact. Having worked together since 2014, our teams deliver integrated cleaning and waste management services across a complex, high-footfall environment serving 31 tenants and more than one million visitors each year.
Through initiatives including AI-enabled OSCAR bins, recycling improvements and sustainable cleaning products, we’ve increased recycling rates by 28%, reduced carbon emissions from BioHygiene products by up to 85% and diverted more than 11,000 toilet roll cores back into manufacturing in just six months. The partnership also generated over £37,000 in social value in 2025, demonstrating our shared commitment to sustainability, circularity and inclusive employment.
Partners in Net Zero Journey – Principle Cleaning Services & Savills at Ropemaker Place
At Ropemaker Place, our partnership with Savills is helping turn net zero ambitions into action.
Since 2022, we’ve embedded sustainability into daily operations across the 600,000 sq ft estate, achieving a 78.6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions and improving the building’s EPC rating from D to B. Initiatives including HVO fuel, expanded solar generation, rainwater harvesting and data-led operational tools are driving efficiencies, while our Green Ambassadors help embed sustainable practices across the workforce.
Together, we’re demonstrating how collaboration and innovation can accelerate decarbonisation across complex commercial buildings.
Celebrating excellence across facilities management
The PFM Awards recognise excellence, innovation and collaboration across the facilities management sector, celebrating the organisations and individuals delivering outstanding outcomes for buildings, occupiers and communities.
Congratulations to Shannon and to our teams at 20 Fenchurch Street and Ropemaker Place, and a huge thank you to our partners at Savills for helping make these achievements possible!
