In collaboration with our partner at Cannon Place, our sustainability team held a Plastic Free July drop-in event to raise awareness of the annual movement and empower those wanting to make more sustainable choices.
Eloise and Daisy from our team were on hand to answer questions, advise what Principle is doing to minimise plastic consumption and debunk the many plastic myths, and what a success it was! They were really overjoyed with the response received from staff and visitors in the building and how engaged everyone was, with many already being aware of the plastic-free consumables we provide on site and wanting to know more!
To test visitors’ knowledge there was a quiz on the different plastic standard classifications and what each of the numbers on plastic packaging mean, the various recycling labels (it’s so important to consume consciously as ‘wishcycling’ is sadly leading to a vast amount of contamination) and water consumption in the industry, for example how this contributes to GHG emissions. In return, prizes, including beeswax wraps – an amazing plastic free alternative to cling film – and vegetable bags – brilliant for taking to the supermarket/ greengrocers/ farmers market – were given away to many, we’re pleased to report!
Thank you to Cannon Place and to everyone who visited, the team really enjoyed meeting you all and having the opportunity to discuss this topic which they – and all of us as a company – feel so passionately about!
