We are thrilled to announce that Principle Cleaning Services has been announced as finalists for not one, but three prestigious European Cleaning & Hygiene (ECH) Awards in the following categories:

  • Rising Star of the Year: Mara Fernandes – H&S Manager, Principle Cleaning Services

Mara joined Principle 10 years ago, initially as a cleaner, after moving to the UK from Portugal. After multiple supervisor roles Mara took a role in our head office delivering BICSc training and today she is Health and Safety Manager for the horizontal division of the business; deputising for the Department Head in their absence, as well as our lead assessor and the founder of Principle’s Health and Safety Champions group.

Mara was nominated for this award because she demonstrates her professionalism and dedication to her role on a daily basis. She has nurtured and developed positive and long standing relationships across the organisation, and client service levels are improved as a result of her commitment to working within defined timescales at all times, responding efficiently and effectively to client requests
and managing their expectations.

  • Excellence in Client-Contractor Partnerships: Principle Cleaning Services at King’s Cross

Principle’s 157-strong team provides the Estate with vertical (window) cleaning, internal and external cleaning, event support and porterage services. Principle and King’s Cross have formed an excellent partnership which operates in a culture of shared values and rewards to deliver the very highest standards and create the ultimate experience for visitors and stakeholders.

  • Technological Innovation of the Year: Principle Cleaning Services for 3D Mapping

As pioneers of new technology, we are constantly seeking new ways of working and we utilise the latest innovative and technology-driven equipment on-site as soon as it comes to market. Principle is at the forefront of the industry in developing smart solutions of our own and our latest innovation is the launch of 3D Mapping.

As the only pan-European professional cleaning awards, the ECH Awards is renowned for celebrating outstanding achievements and showcasing the best practices in the cleaning and hygiene sector and are now in their sixth year.

A record number of more than 230 entries were received this year so to have this recognition from the judges and be a finalist in three categories is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. We are immensely proud and thankful and would like to extend our gratitude to our team, clients and partners for their commitment, hard work and support.

Michelle Marshall, Editor of European Cleaning Journal and founder of the annual awards said: “Last year’s ceremony marked a fantastic return after Covid imposed a two-year pause on proceedings. And we can’t wait for this year’s event to match it, shining a well-deserved spotlight on the stars of our industry.

“We received some incredible entries and it wasn’t an easy task building our shortlist, but we feel that the 49 finalists that we’ve chosen thoroughly deserve their names in lights, in acknowledgment of their contribution to the cleaning and hygiene industry. We look forward to celebrating with our finalists and esteemed guest in Dublin this Autumn.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place in Dublin on 5th October. We wish every finalist the best of luck and look forward to seeing you there!
