Douglas Cooke recently presented to a packed audience of 300 delegates at the 2023 BSCAI (Building Service Contractors Association International) CEO Seminar held in Nassau, Bahamas. The annual event was an opportunity for leaders in the industry to connect in what the organisers described as an intimate, laid-back setting.
The Caribbean destination joins a list of many far off places where Douglas has presented to cleaning contractors, including New Zealand, Moscow, Argentina, France… and Glasgow! Here he gave an update on the UK cleaning market and spoke about his experience as an Undercover Boss (carried out separately to the TV programme) in 2012. It was during this time that he realised just how much could be gained from daytime cleaning schedules and so hybrid cleaning regimes were born!
Shortly after, Principle introduced the opportunity for cleaning operatives to work full day shifts which enhanced their relationships with clients and led to them feeling more valued and it was revolutionary for their work-life balance, amongst many other benefits.
“Going undercover was a very interesting exercise with some very valuable outcomes. For example, hearing about people’s day to day tasks and learning how they may be performed more effectively led to a move towards day time cleaning for a number of companies.” Douglas commented.
For anyone who’s attended one of Douglas’ presentations you’ll know it would have been very informative and insightful, given his long rein in the industry, and there will definitely have been some interesting and comedic stories included to keep the audience engaged.
