Principle joins Churchill Group to continue building on 37 years of specialist expertise

Principle is pleased to announce that it has joined Churchill Group, becoming part of a wider group of specialist, employee‑owned businesses, and merging with Portfolio.

Founded more than 37 years ago, Principle has built a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality specialist commercial cleaning services across London’s landmark buildings. Principle will continue to operate under its well‑known brand, with the same commitment to service quality and client partnership.

The merger with Churchill’s Portfolio business brings together two employee‑owned organisations with shared values and a strong focus on people, long‑term relationships and responsible operations, as well as creating a unified business for London. Joining Churchill Group enables Principle to benefit from greater investment, enhanced innovation capability and the scale of a specialist group, while preserving the culture that has shaped the business.

Douglas Cooke, Executive Chairman of Principle, said:
“Building Principle over the past 37 years has been an immense privilege. From the very beginning, we centred our work on people, the colleagues who brought their expertise and dedication, and the customers who trusted us to care for their environments.

As we looked to the future, finding the right home for Principle mattered deeply. Churchill’s commitment to people, quality and employee ownership aligns completely with the values on which Principle was built. Their specialist focus and their culture make this a natural and positive next step. Seeing two employee-owned businesses coming together is also really exciting for me and gives me real confidence in the path ahead.”
